Series 1

Nicknamed Cracks Over Time, this piece will likely develop cracks over time because, when I first made it, I didn’t know about the “fat over lean” rule in oil painting, and I mixed oil paint with acrylic for the background. In simple terms, oil and acrylic age differently and dry at different rates. When oil paint is improperly combined with non-oil paint, such as acrylic, the surface can slowly crack over time.

The name feels fitting, and honestly, even the outcome for the paintings. In short, these paintings are a series about the “cracks” that form in life over time- how one can fade and erode away due to an event or situation in life. Just like people, the painting carries the marks of what it’s been through.
